CHANGE in action


On April 6th 2015, the Future for Children team went through the last module of  Strategic Planning, part of the Change in Action project.

Thanks to a clearly defined strategic plan, prerequisites are created for the proper organization and coordination of the activity at all levels of the association.


The Change in Action project has been developed as there are no other funding programs directly geared to building the capability of NGOs. Its activities fall under the thematic priority “Promotion of NGO capability and the development of a favorable environment for the construction sector” of the NGO Support Program in Bulgaria under the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2009-2014

The Future for the  Children Association must ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the policy-making process for its work. This requires clearly defined priorities, strategy and action plan – prioritization of operational level sequencing, systematic use of impact analysis as a tool for decision support, capability for strategic planning at the operational level and focus on prevention. It must provide a unified environment for sharing and using information, both on management levels and between units.

The team of the association believes that the way to achieve responsible, modern, efficient and effective management is the restructuring of the decision-making process and the collection of competencies – from a vertical / executive principle to a horizontal organization of cooperation between many different individuals. This will create a more decentralized a system open to partnerships both internally and externally, with the inclusion of low-level administrative staff to external experts and civil organizations.

Following the changes in the organization, it was very important to devise a new strategic plan. It includes  a formulated vision and a mission in line with the new role and function of the association. To write down the short- and long-term goals, the concrete activities with which they should be achieved and the results , a communication and financial strategy, a monitoring and evaluation plan.

Following the principle that there are no ready solutions, the result can be achieved only when you  bring together the main individuals, the available knowledge and the best practices so far. The Managing Board of the Future for the Children , representatives of the General Assembly, employees of the organization, partners, donors, volunteers, the media, as well as representatives of other organizations and institutions.

Thanks to the Change in Action project, Future for the Children Association will develop a strategy for the next five years of its development.

For the realization of this activity, the Association uses the capacity and experience of the external expert Reneta Veneva.She has the task of guiding the process of producing, choosing the approach and methodology to create the strategic plan.

To date, as a result of past sessions, the organization has a vision, a mission (in a working variant) and a SWAT analysis. The last session outlined the concrete results we want to have in the near future. Also a system of indicators whose values will be monitored periodically to assess the extent to which the objectives set and the concrete results achieved in the implementation of the strategic plan.
